Alan Margolis Joins Fintex Real Estate Lending

London / Luxembourg, 6 February 2017

  • Fintex Capital prepares to provide funding to UK real estate lenders and platforms
  • Fintex approaches €60 million in investment assets and continues to grow

Fintex Capital is pleased to announce that Alan Margolis, previously Head of Bridging at United Trust Bank, has teamed up with Fintex to lead its new Real Estate Lending strategy. Building on Fintex Capital’s success in providing institutional capital to high-quality lending platforms in Europe, Fintex is now preparing to provide funding to UK real estate lenders and platforms. The focus will be on short-term and medium-term senior loans secured on quality property assets in the UK.

Until recently, Alan led UTB’s highly regarded team in short-term property lending, where he played an integral role in completing a large volume of different property loans, involving residential and mixed use assets, first charge and second charge lending, as well as regulated and unregulated loans. Under Alan’s stewardship, UTB received many awards and gained industry-wide recognition. Prior to UTB, Alan was a Director of Cheval Property Finance where over many years he served in different roles – including as CEO and COO. Alan, a qualified solicitor, has also served as Director of the Association of Short Term Lenders.

Robert Stafler, Founder and Chief Executive of Fintex, said: “I am delighted that Alan joined us to lead this exciting initiative. Alan has more than 20 years’ hands-on experience, having held senior positions in UK property lending. Alan adds significant additional breadth and depth to our top-class team and there is simply no one better placed to lead and assist us in designing and preparing our real estate product offering.

In 2016, we successfully launched and implemented our first Fintex Capital lending strategy in German consumer loans. Within this strategy, Fintex continues to grow at very good pace, having already reached c. €60 million in investment assets and having issued Eurobonds to a variety of institutional investors across Europe. We now teamed up with Alan to create a new series of low-risk, low-volatility fixed income investments, all secured on quality UK real estate. With Alan on board, Fintex will soon offer highly attractive fixed income returns to institutions in GBP, on a significant scale.”

Alan Margolis said: “Within a short space of time, Fintex Capital has built a genuinely exciting and innovative proposition. Fintex was launched less than a year ago and its success to date demonstrates that there is strong demand among institutions for its products. My task is to lead Fintex in injecting significant amounts of affordable lending capital into those lending sectors that I am familiar with, and this will add yet another layer to my understanding of UK property lending markets. I look forward to working with Robbie and the team to lead the design and implementation of Fintex Capital’s next product suite.”

About Fintex Capital

Fintex Capital’s mission is to transform the way institutional investors access high quality lending platforms.

Fintex was founded by Robert Stafler and Jérôme Anglade, two veterans in marketplace lending. The wider Fintex team has years of experience in marketplace lending and an in-depth understanding of structured credit, securitisation markets, real estate, SME and consumer finance.

Fintex was created in 2015 to originate, structure and manage bespoke fixed income investments for sizeable professional investors with an institutional mindset. Its aim is to deliver capital preservation, consistent income and superior risk-adjusted returns across all its products.

Leveraging its team’s experience in deep capital markets and its innovative approach, Fintex is well placed to continue and create sustainable, low risk, low volatility lending products which offer attractive yields to institutional investors in the prevailing low interest rate environment. In 2016, within less than one year of its first product launch, Fintex Capital already received several industry awards and recognitions.

How Fintex works

Fintex Capital purchases sizeable portfolios of loans originated on leading marketplaces and lending platforms as principal. To finance these loan portfolios, our customers – typically large asset managers, banks, insurance companies, pension funds or family offices – purchase bonds issued by Fintex, linked to discrete loan portfolios. Our Bonds are capital markets-friendly instruments; they carry an ISIN and are settled through Euroclear and Clearstream thereby eliminating time-consuming processes. In doing so, Fintex enables meaningful capital to be deployed in a well-managed and hassle-free manner, with professional risk management processes in place.

To manage its investments, Fintex Capital employs a high-quality team and proprietary risk management tools, developed in-house. The firm’s centralised risk management systems enable the team to closely track the performance of each individual loan and provide sophisticated monitoring, reporting, valuations and projections for each portfolio to a top-class standard. Fintex is highly selective of the marketplaces it invests on. Our team works closely with our partner platforms. As such, our customers benefit from direct and privileged access to market-leading lending platforms.
